RE: How mamy boxes of Lynx Blocks?

2 sets. Most of the time 1 is good enough, but when you need the second set it is nice.

RE: Omaha Tornado

Did the NWS forget to set off the warning sirens and issue a warning? I was down at Louisville camping and my weather alert radio didn't go off. Its programmed with the SAME codes for Douglas Sarpy & Cass. I got the T watch alert earlier in the day. I slept mostly through the storm. I got home to a few limbs down, but some friends didn't make out so well.

RE: 5 feet high and rising

I like the perk pot idea and might have to pick one up as a back up. Actually tossing the coleman stove in there also so I wont have to cook inside will keep the interior cooler. I like it! Thanks!

RE: 5 feet high and rising

Hey Otar, as another Nebraskan, I'm curious which park you got flooded out of. Would it perhaps be Two Rivers? O'Neill had 4 inches the other night, so we'd be sending water your way via the Elkhorn River. I suppose if I had to, I could be hooked up & outa there in maybe 20 minutes or so. It was a good move to stay hooked up. Two rivers. The camp pre-flood was fantastic. Trees just to the north and south, river west. I found some local news video of the flood. I think the boy scouts in the video were about a quarter or half mile south of me in the primitive camp site. http://www.ketv.com/video/16444688/index.html

5 feet high and rising

Well, that was an interesting weekend. I finally got a reservation in a local state park for a highly coveted river side pad. Normally the pad is 24 feet from the river and is pretty secluded. Out west they've been dealing with tornadoes, and heavy rains this past week. I load up Friday after work and haul the TT out for whats supposed to be a relaxing weekend. I get on site and the river looks mad and is moving pretty fast, but its only up 2-3 feet. A game warden stops by and we chat about the river. He told me that the crest isn't expected until sometime Saturday. I ask if I should move or stay hooked up and he said that hooked up would probably be good, but they were going to be watching the river all night. I found myself starting to hum the old Johny Cash song, Five Feet High And Rising. I decide that staying hooked up was prudent and just dropped the stab jacks. All evening I kept a close watch on the river. About 01:30 (yup, you guessed it)the sheriff is pounding on my trailer saying its time to move. Great. I turn on the coffee pot and go out to raise the jacks. I did find out that I can get all the jacks up and slide in along with securing the interior stuff in the time that it takes to drip up 10 cups of life. Its dark at night! I pulled out and drove around the park trying to figure where they want me. I never did see another park employee, so I settled in a day use parking lot next to my riverside neighbor who pulled out just before me and I figured I would find a new spot inland in the morning. Come morning I check in at the gate and find out theres no room for me. :( Good thing I made the coffee last night. Being determined to make a go of it I called another park and found out that they are in the middle of evacuating half the park. I ended up calling the local KOA who had room so thats where I went. I was their first check in of the day 09:00. By then the thermos holding the coffee of life was out. By sun down they were full up with people from 2 or 3 private camp grounds that also flooded out and the refugees (like me) from the state parks. So, if you get rousted in the middle of the night and told to evacuate how long does it take you to pull out?

RE: Report: friction Sway Control 30'ish footer...

I've got a 30' Greywolf behind my F150 with a single sway bar. Thanks for the report of with and with out. I dont have the guts yet to try mine with out the sway on it. With some of the wind we get on the flat lands I'm wondering if what I have is enough.

RE: Going "Green" while camping?

I filter and treat my own water. The only "plastic" bottles I have on board is Nalgene.

I dont worry about CG water with a inline filter and a Katadyn Combi. I'm good to 0.2 microns.

I've got a set of magnetic poles. 1 on the ball and 1 just behind the receiver. When I knock over the pole on the ball I'm there.
